Reports to: 

Executive Director‍

Status: 

Full-time, Exempt | 40 hrs/week (evenings & some Saturdays required)‍

Location: 

Location: This is a hybrid position, requiring regular in-person work at Urban Warriors’ main office and occasional travel to program sites and community events. Evening and weekend hours may be required based on program needs.

Salary:  $75,000 to $85,000 (commensurate with experience)

About Urban Warriors

Urban Warriors is a Latino-led, trauma-informed nonprofit that reduces youth violence through free sports clinics, arts/media labs, mentorship, and a unique civic-engagement model: every participant earns program access by completing service hours for local small businesses, nonprofits, and community events.

Position Summary: 

The Director of Programs is a vital member of the Urban Warriors leadership team, responsible for driving the vision and execution of programs. This role ensures all programs reflect Urban Warriors’ mission, respond to the unique needs of the communities we serve, and deliver measurable outcomes. The Director will lead program staff, cultivate partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations, oversee program evaluation, and collaborate with leadership to expand the reach and impact of Urban Warriors’ programs.

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Urban Warriors programs, ensuring they foster resilience, leadership, and growth for urban youth.

  • Spearhead curriculum development in collaboration with Program Managers and Head Program Coaches, ensuring programs are engaging, culturally relevant, and aligned with Urban Warriors’ civic engagement model to foster youth leadership and community impact.

  • Ensure programs are mission-driven, culturally responsive, and results-oriented.

  • Develop annual program goals, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with Urban Warriors’ strategic priorities.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, expansion, and continuous improvement to better serve youth and families.

Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and support program managers, coordinators, coaches, and frontline staff, fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture.

  • Identify professional development, coaching, and training opportunities that empower staff to excel in youth-focused programming.

  • Promote a collaborative and accountable work environment that aligns with Urban Warriors’ values and mission.

Parent & Family Engagement

  • Develop strategies to actively engage parents/guardians as partners in youth development and program success.

  • Work with program managers to create communication systems that keep families informed, connected, and invested.

  • Provide opportunities for parent voice, leadership, and participation in program activities and decision-making. 

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Oversee program evaluation, data collection, and impact measurement to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, funder reporting, and organizational standards.

  • Use data-driven insights to assess program effectiveness, inform strategy, and demonstrate the value and impact of Urban Warriors programs.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, nonprofit management, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in youth development or nonprofit program leadership.

  • Strong team leadership, strategic planning, and partnership development skills.

  • Experience managing program budgets and meeting grant or funder requirements.

  • Deep understanding of culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.
