Job Title: Program Manager — Youth Sports, Arts & Civic Engagement
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time, Exempt | 40 hrs/week (evenings & some Saturdays required)
Location: Urban Warrior Youth Center (3943 W 26th St, Chicago) plus program sites in Little Village, Gage Park, Cicero, and Brighton Park
About Urban Warriors
Urban Warriors is a Latino-led, trauma-informed nonprofit that reduces youth violence through free sports clinics, arts/media labs, mentorship, and a unique civic-engagement model: every participant earns program access by completing service hours for local small businesses, nonprofits, and community events.
Position Summary
The Program Manager is the logistical backbone and culture-keeper for all Urban Warriors programming. You will design weekly schedules, supervise coaches and volunteers, track data for grants, and ensure each soccer drill, art workshop, or service project runs on time, on budget, and with a trauma-informed lens. Success means 600+ youth (ages 6–18) experience safe play, creative expression, and community leadership opportunities year-round.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Logistics
• Build seasonal calendars (soccer, baseball, robotics/media lab, leadership workshops). • Reserve fields/classrooms, order gear, manage equipment inventory.
Staff & Volunteer Supervision
• Train and schedule ~15 part-time coaches/mentors. • Lead weekly check-ins; model trauma-informed practices.
Youth Recruitment & Retention
• Partner with schools, park districts, and faith groups; manage sign-ups; maintain 85 %+ attendance.
Data & Evaluation
• Collect rosters, service hours, and resilience surveys; enter in Salesforce/Bloomerang; pull grant-report metrics.
Budget & Compliance
• Monitor program line items (~$150k); code expenses; ensure CPS & Park District safety/mandated-reporter rules are met.
Community Partnerships
• Liaison to Gage Park Community Council, Cicero Youth Task Force, Planet Fitness, etc.; coordinate joint events.
Event Management
• Run tournaments, Demo Day showcases, family graduations, and annual golf-outing youth station.
Communication
• Issue bilingual (Eng/Span) SMS & email reminders; handle parent concerns; supply marketing team with photos/stories.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s in Recreation, Education, Social Work, or related.
• Master’s or coursework in Nonprofit or Youth Development.
• 3+ years coordinating youth sports or arts programs.
• Certified Youth Mental-Health First Aid or equivalent.
• Supervisory experience (staff, interns, or volunteers).
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar CRM.
• Budget tracking & basic grant-report writing.
• Coaching license or referee certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (professional working).
• Lived experience in Little Village/Gage Park area.
• Able to work evenings/Saturdays and lift 35 lbs of equipment.
