Village Moves is the Urban Warriors youth chess club based out of Little Village, established in 2025. With the help of our local alderman, Michael Rodriguez, and in collaboration with the Chicago Chess Foundation, we are bridging the gap between affluent and economically disadvantaged communities to competitive chess by bringing culturally-responsive coaches to our community.
Following the Urban Warriors Civic Engagement model, Village Moves is a place where strategizing on the board turns into strategizing for the prosperity of our community. Just like the rest of our programs, there are no fees to participate. Instead, our youth participate in civic engagement projects once a month as a team to build their families' social capital and develop into our community's future leaders.
Our 2025 fall season registration is now OPEN. For kids in grades K-8, all are welcome into a fun, friendly, and bilingual environment. Meetings are every Monday and Friday, 6pm-7pm, starting September 29th until October 27th. Limited spots are available - register now to secure your kid's spot!
